In 2015 we rehearsed and performed outside in Albert Square and, for the first time, we were not part of a wider event. We made changes to the registration process, registering each singer individually, predominantly online. We also introduced a charge for rehearsals with the surplus after costs (e.g. room hire & refreshments) also going towards our fundraising total. This meant that each participant’s £15 donation, paid at registration, went straight to WaterAid. Therefore each singer represented at least one person who now has clean water and sanitation for life!
We were a little concerned that not being part of a wider event would negatively impact on our fundraising efforts on the day however, our fears were unfounded and we had our most successful street collection ever collecting £758.04! This took our total for the year to £7301.88 or, in other words, clean water for 486 people! Our cumulative total since 2011 rose to £27,274.15, enough to provide clean water and sanitation for 1818 people FOR LIFE!
Although all 320 people registered as individuals, there were a large number of choirs represented amongst our number, this in in addition to a small army of individuals who do not belong to a choir…yet!
