With thanks to Otro Mundo, a World & Roots music radio program on ALL FM 96.9 in Levenshulme Manchester, we featured on this week’s program. The presenter is a long-time supporter of Sing for Water North, we hope you enjoy the show!
We have now counted the contents of the collection buckets from today and we raised in excess of £300, thank you! This means that we have raised over £2,500 so far this year and over £36,000 (£40k including GiftAid!) since 2011, enough to change the lives of more than 2600 people! Well done everybody! Our justgiving page will remain open for the rest of 2017, let’s see how much more we can raise!
This year was the first time we have taken Sing for Water North outside of Manchester and despite being smaller than some of our previous events, it was perfectly formed with over 100 people joining together to Sing for Water! We did get a bit wet but nowhere near as much as last year!
There are already some videos of our rehearsal on this year’s Youtube playlist and you can add any of your own to it. Thanks to the wonderful Jules, Janet and Olwyn, our MD’s and, of course, to all the other people whose various contributions helped to make today as successful as it was,
Because we were all busy singing, if you or your friends/family took any pictures or video of our performance we would be really grateful if you could either let us have a copy, or let us know where we can find them if they are already on the Internet.
Here are a few we took today:
Olwyn teaching us Tsimado Gmerto
A very serious discussion about how to apply temporary tattoos
Janet leading part of the rehearsal
The Rev’d Jules Gibb giving her sermon
Our toilet monitors for the day!
Getting our priorities right – learning about lunch options!
And so it begins…
A singer’s-eye view during the performance!
Jules putting us through our paces
WaterAid information about how our fundraising efforts get spent
Sing for Water North will be taking place tomorrow in Accrington and we can’t wait to see you all there!
If you are travelling by car, the venue for the day has limited parking but Tesco have kindly agreed that singers can park there all day without charge so long as if they follow a specific process, to find out how to access this, please check the updated Singers’ Area which contains all the information you need for tomorrow, please do check this as some things will be different to previous events.
If you are not joining us as a singer, you can still support us by coming along to watch our performance in Accrington Town Centre at approximately 3.15pm tomorrow or by making a donation via Justgiving.
There’s just one week to go before Sing for Water North 2017 in Accrington and we can’t wait to see you all! We are almost fully booked for 2017 but if you ate looking to join us at the last minute or to let us know that you can no longer come on the day, please contact us.
Singers can find all the information they need in the Singers’ Area, please do check this as some things will be different to previous events.
If you are not joining us as a singer, you can still support us by coming along to watch our performance in Accrington Town Centre at approximately 3.15 on 10th June or by making a donation via Justgiving.
After 15 years of wonderful music, Sing for Water events around the UK have raised over £1 million for WaterAid [and we have it on good authority that it was Sing for Water North’s latest contribution that pushed it over the £1 million mark!]
Thank you so much to all of the amazing organisers who make the events happen, and to all the choirs that have sung their hearts out for taps and toilets!”
We are pleased to announce that registrations are now open for Sing for Water North 2017 which will be taking place on 10th June in Accrington, space is limited this year and therefore we would urge you to register as quickly as possible if you would like to take part!
Please note that, as last year, MD’s/choir contacts are not responsible for registering their choir or choir members – each individual singer (including the MD) will be responsible for their own registration, for both the event and the rehearsals.
Please spread the word amongst choir members and singing friends. In particular, please print out and distribute a hard copy of the information pack to singers without internet access.
We are looking forward to singing with you on another great day and to raising yet more money for a very deserving charity!
Sing for Water North this year will be happening in Accrington on Saturday 10 June from 10.00 til 4.00 (venue tbc)
All the lovely ingredients will be there – Jules Gibb, Olwyn Pearce and Janet Swan teaching 4 beautiful songs (that will also be available to your choirs before hand). There will also be the usual busking in the centre of Accrington at the end of the afternoon.
Please come along and support this small but perfectly formed version of our great North West effort. We look forward to seeing you there!
Further details and registration information will be available soon, watch this space!
