Yesterday was our final rehearsal of 2015 which also marked a very important fundraising milestone. Since our first event in 2011, Sing for Water North has now raised over £25,000 for WaterAid, that’s clean water and sanitation for more than 1600 people! A whole village!
Irene from Picturehouse Choir (who is also an official WaterAid speaker) gave a talk about the difference our fundraising makes to people living without access to clean water. It was reassuring to learn that 77% of all funds raised go directly to charitable work, 22% to support further fundraising and only 1% to governance of WaterAid. Irene also emphasised the fact that each singer who has registered has donated at least £15 which is the amount than can help provide one person with access to safe water, in other words every singer represents a life changed!
We ran through our entire repertoire yesterday and even had time to perfect a new number, we hope you like it!:
Although our rehearsals have finished, if you want to get involved it is not too late, you can still register by clicking here, we look forward to seeing you on 7th June!
