Yesterday saw the first rehearsal of 2015 and what a fantastic day it was! It was great to see many familiar faces and also some very welcome newcomers. Thanks again to Olwyn and Jacqui who expertly led us through our entire 2015 repertoire, including at least one song that neither of them had taught before! Our other hero of the day was Peter from Secret Singers who made a mad dash to Blackburn and back to ensure that we had the necessary resources to learn some of the songs, a true star!
We have changed the registration process this year so that participants now pay £15 to register and a further £5 to attend each rehearsal. This means that for every singer who registers, £15 goes directly to WaterAid and provides clean water and sanitation for an individual in Africa. Any costs associated with running rehearsals are taken from the separate £5 with the remainder also going to WaterAid. We have not yet paid out all of the costs associated with yesterday and therefore we are not sure exactly how much extra will be donated to WaterAid from this rehearsal. However, we are confident that our total is now fast approaching, if not exceeding, £4,000!
